Trusting and Doing

I often struggle with the balance of what I’m supposed to do, and what I should just let the Lord take care of. I still haven’t found the perfect balance of trusting and doing, but here are some of my favorite quotes that remind me to trust the Lord, shun evils, and follow His commandments.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-11)

For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, ‘In repentance and rest you will be saved, in quietness and trust is your strength.’ (Isaiah 30:15)

What is good, nay, what is blessed and happy, no one can perceive with an exquisite sense unless he has been in a state of what is not good, not blessed, and not happy. (Arcana Coelestia 2694)

“In all His combats of temptations the Lord never fought from the love of self, or for Himself, but for all in the universe, consequently, not that He might become the greatest in heaven, for this is contrary to the Divine Love, and scarcely even that He might be the least; but only that all others might become something, and be saved.” (Arcana Coelestia 1812)

Cease, therefore, from asking in yourself, “What are the good works that I must do, or what good must I do to receive eternal life?” Only cease from evils as sins and look to the Lord, and the Lord will teach and lead you. (Apocalypse Explained 979)

Every angel has conjugial love, with its virtue, its potency, and its delights, according to his devotion to the genuine use in which he is. (Conjugial Love 207)

“the ministry signified by “Michael” is performed by those who confirm from the Word, that the Lord is the God of heaven and earth, and that God the Father and He are one, as the soul and body are one; also that men ought to live according to the commandments of the Decalogue, and that then men have charity and faith.” (Apocalypse Revealed 548)

About Alison Cole

Alison Cole likes to describe herself as “a freelance useful person”. There are all kinds of people and jobs out there, but she likes the freedom to drop everything when someone is in need and go off on adventures to help out with new babies or anything, especially when it's supporting marriages and family! When Alison is not off nannying, she likes to occupy her time with drawing, painting and writing!
